About this scholarship
SCF Île-de-France grant for scientific meetings
You will receive up to 250 EUR to cover the registration fee for a chemistry conference. The conference can take place anywhere, not just in the Île-de-France region. The grant is provided by the Île-de-France section of the Société Chimique de France (SCF-IdF), the French Chemical Society. It supports young chemists in the Paris region who wish to attend conferences in their field of specialism.
Who can apply
- Career stage: You are a PhD student, a postdoctoral researcher or an ATER (a fixed-term teaching and research assistant at a French university).
- Field: You work in chemistry.
- Membership: You are a member of the SCF Île-de-France section at the time of your application.
- Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
- Values: Your application should reflect gender equality, inclusion and diversity. Applications that fail to take these aspects into account may be rejected.
How to apply
Applications should be submitted by email to the SCF-IdF office. Please attach the application form, your CV and a letter of recommendation from your PhD supervisor or research supervisor. There are four application rounds per year, depending on the date of your event. The deadlines are 31 October, 31 January, 30 April and 15 July.
How realistic are your chances?
This is a small, highly targeted grant. You must be a chemist at the start of your career, working in the Paris region and already a member of the section, meaning that only a few people will be competing for this grant. If you meet these criteria and apply for the call for proposals that corresponds to your event, your chances are good. As the amount is modest, you should view it more as a contribution towards the conference fees rather than full funding.
