Mobility Grants at Sciences Po Toulouse

You will receive financial support to cover the costs of a study period or a compulsory work placement abroad as part of your degree programme at Sciences Po Toulouse in France. There is no standard flat-rate amount. The university combines several sources of funding and calculates the total amount based on your destination and your financial circumstances. The Erasmus+ grant ranges from approximately 450 to 650 EUR per month, depending on the country and whether you are studying or undertaking an internship. You will also receive a distance-based flat-rate travel allowance of around 28 EUR for short journeys up to 1,735 EUR for the most distant destinations, with the amount being higher if you travel by train, bus or carpool.

You may also be eligible for further grants. The regional grants from the Occitanie region amount to 75 EUR per full working week, or a flat-rate grant of 600 EUR for certain partner regions. A government grant from the French Ministry amounts to 400 EUR per semester (800 EUR for a full year) for stays in Europe and 800 EUR per semester (1,600 EUR for a full year) for stays outside Europe. The university’s own scholarship amounts to between 480 and 800 EUR per semester. You will also receive an additional 250 EUR per month if you have a disability, come from a disadvantaged area or receive a higher level of state funding in France. The grant applies to stays of between 2 and 12 months.

Who can apply

• University: You are studying at Sciences Po Toulouse.
• Where you go: As part of your degree programme, you will spend time abroad, either as part of a university exchange programme or a compulsory work placement. This applies to third-year students, students undertaking their final-year work placement, and students on a dual-degree programme.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
• Recognition: Your period of study abroad must be a compulsory part of your degree programme and must count towards ECTS credits (the European credit system used to measure your academic achievements).
• Financial situation: For some grants, the amount depends on whether you receive a French state CROUS grant (the main state grant in France) or on your family’s income; the amount is therefore calculated on a case-by-case basis.
• Not eligible: You cannot apply if you are taking a gap year (Césure). You also cannot apply if you are taking part in the double degree programme with the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and are administratively enrolled in Madrid.

How to apply

Applications are made through a single point of contact, the International Relations Service, which centrally manages all funding. Every student going abroad will be given a form. You enter your details on this form and upload your documents. If you are selected, you will receive an email informing you of the type and amount of funding you will receive.

How realistic are your chances?

As only Sciences Po Toulouse students who are going abroad are eligible to apply, the pool of applicants is naturally small and limited to one university. The scholarships are funded from limited resources, and priority is given to students for whom the period abroad is compulsory, i.e. third-year students and students on the UCM dual degree programme. If your period abroad is a compulsory part of your degree programme and counts towards your credits, your chances are good. Submitting an application does not guarantee approval; therefore, please ensure you submit a complete set of documents by the deadline.
