About this scholarship
What the Childcare Fund gives you
Whilst studying at Abertay University in Dundee, Scotland, you will receive a grant towards your formal, registered childcare costs. There is no fixed amount. The amount is based on your actual childcare costs. As this is a grant, you will never have to pay it back. The money comes from the Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS) and is paid out by Abertay University to its own students.
Who can apply
- University: You are enrolled as a student at Abertay University.
- Childcare costs: You pay for approved childcare, for example with an approved childminder, at a nursery or at an after-school care centre. Informal help from family or friends does not count towards this.
- Nationality: You are a student from the UK. The focus is on Scottish students.
- Field of study: Any subject.
- Your situation: The programme is aimed at a broad target group of students, including younger students, students aged 25 and over, single parents and students returning to their studies after a break.
How to apply
You should apply for the grant via Abertay University, not directly to SAAS. Please use the online form on the student intranet. There is no fixed deadline, but please apply for the grant well in advance so that the funds are available when you need them. Abertay University’s advisory service will be happy to help you complete the form.
How realistic are your chances?
This is not a competition. It is practical support linked to a specific need: the costs of registered childcare whilst you are studying at Abertay University. If you are a student from the UK who is enrolled at the university, incur these costs and can provide the relevant invoices, you are exactly the right candidate for this fund – so your chances are good. Apply early in the year to ensure the money reaches you in good time.
