Sapienza University of Rome (Rome/Italy) - Scholarship "Don’t miss your chance"

What you get

Sapienza University in Rome awards 11 scholarships of EUR 4,300 per year (gross; you must pay income tax yourself) in addition to two years, making a total of 8,600 euros. Scholarship holders also do not pay any tuition fees – only a one-off contribution of 30 euros, as well as a small regional tax and stamp duty, which are set by the Lazio region. The money is paid out in two annual instalments: the first after enrolment and proof of a student visa; the second at the start of the second academic year, provided you hold a valid residence permit, have re-enrolled by the deadline and have earned at least 30 ECTS credits by 10 August of the first academic year.

Eligibility

• University: You will enrol on a Master’s programme at the University of ‘La Sapienza’ in Rome for the academic year covered by this call for applications.
• Previous degree: You hold a degree from a non-Italian higher education institution, which you obtained after at least 15 years of schooling and 3 years of higher education, and this degree entitles you to enrol on a Master’s programme in the country in which you obtained it.
• Nationality: You are not an Italian citizen. Both EU and non-EU citizens may apply.
• Age: At the time of publication of this call, you must not be older than 26.
• SAT score: You hold a valid SAT certificate (Scholastic Assessment Test, issued by the College Board) dated March 2016 or later. The result is the total score from the ‘Evidence-Based Reading and Writing’ and ‘Maths’ sections.
• Other funding: You are not yet a recipient of the regional DiSCo Lazio scholarship.

How to apply

Register on Sapienza’s student portal (Infostud) to obtain your student ID card, and then submit the online form linked in the official call for applications before the deadline. Upload a PDF file containing your SAT certificate and a valid form of photo ID. Selection is based solely on your total SAT score – there will be no interview. The higher your score, the better your ranking; in the event of a tie, the younger applicant will be given priority. How realistic are your chances?

Each year, there are only 11 places available. The pool of applicants is already small: non-Italian graduates from foreign universities who fall under 26 and hold an SAT certificate. As selection is based solely on your SAT result, you can assess your chances even before applying. With a good result, you stand a good chance within this small pool of applicants.
