About this scholarship

What you get

You get a bursary for the one-year MSc in Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Oxford. The amount varies and is matched to your financial situation, so it helps cover the cost of the degree for students who could not otherwise afford it. It runs for the full one year of the course. The Centre for Criminology in Oxford's Faculty of Law awards a limited number each year.

Who can apply

  • Admission: You have an offer of a place on the MSc in Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Oxford.
  • Field of study: Only this one MSc course qualifies.
  • Financial need: You cannot fully fund the degree yourself.
  • Grades: Strong academic results help, as awards are decided partly on performance.
  • Nationality: Applicants from any country can apply.
  • College: Any Oxford college is fine.

How to apply

First apply for admission to the MSc by the January deadline (28 January for the following academic year). If you get an offer, you receive a form to set out your financial situation. The bursaries are awarded after that.

How realistic are your chances?

The pool is small. You first have to win a place on a single, competitive Oxford master's, and only some of those students receive a bursary. If you are already admitted and can clearly document your need, your prospects are reasonable. Note that places can fill up early, so apply for admission by the January deadline.
