Boise Travel Scholarship (Slade School of Fine Art)

You will receive a one-off travel grant of about 10,500 EUR (usually between £4,000 and £9,000) to fund an art project or a study trip abroad. This grant covers travel costs associated with your artistic work, for example for research, a project or study at another location. The grant is awarded by the Slade School of Fine Art at UCL in London.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You’re studying Fine Art at the Slade School of Fine Art, UCL.
• Degree level: You are a Bachelor’s student (BA/BFA) or a Master’s student (MA/MFA).
• Timing: You are in the final year of your degree.
• Residence: You usually live in the UK.

How to apply

There is no separate application form. The Slade Prize Committee selects the winner on the basis of nominations, so you are chosen rather than applying yourself. Current students can find further details under ‘Prizes and Awards’ in the Student Information Hub.

How realistic are your chances?

Only fine art students in their final year at a specific university who normally live in the UK are eligible to win – so the pool of candidates is small. However, you cannot apply directly; you must be nominated by your university. Only by producing compelling, distinctive work during your final year can you present yourself to the selection panel.
