UCL Institute of Archaeology Masters Award

You get a one-off payment of about 11,600 EUR (£10,000) towards the tuition fees of a one-year Master's at the UCL Institute of Archaeology in London. The money is taken off your fees after you enrol. The Institute of Archaeology funds it for the 2026/27 intake and picks one student with strong grades who also needs financial help.

Who can apply

• Course: You have applied for a 2026/27 taught Master's (MA or MSc) at the UCL Institute of Archaeology.
• Subjects: Open to 13 archaeology and heritage courses, including MA Archaeology, MA Museum Studies, MA Cultural Heritage Studies, MSc Environmental Archaeology and MSc Bioarchaeological and Forensic Anthropology.
• Residence: You normally live in the UK or Ireland and pay the home (domestic) tuition-fee rate.
• Financial need: Your yearly household income is £42,875 (about 49,700 EUR) or less.
• Grades: You need a strong academic record, since selection weighs your grades alongside your financial need.

How to apply

You submit an application form and a PGT Financial Need form online. Your admissions application, including both references, must be complete by 2 March. You hear back by early May.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is cut narrowly: one place for a UK or Ireland resident on the home-fee rate, studying archaeology at UCL, with a household income under £42,875. That small, well-defined group works in your favour if you clearly fit all of it. Because grades and need both count, a strong academic record plus a documented low income gives you the best prospects.
