The Dr HH Stewart Medical Prizes

For outstanding examination results in a subject within medicine or the health sciences, you will receive a one-off bonus of 250 EUR. This is a performance-related bonus for the best marks and is not an ongoing monthly grant. It is awarded by the National University of Ireland (NUI), which has been awarding this bonus since 1888.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are studying at UCD, UCC, the University of Galway or RCSI, or at one of their affiliated campuses abroad (RCSI & UCD Malaysia, RCSI Bahrain or Perdana University).
• Field of study: Your subject is in medicine or health sciences, for example anatomy, surgery, paediatrics, pharmacy, physiotherapy, dentistry, speech and language therapy, or nursing and midwifery (general, children's, mental health or intellectual disability nursing).
• Level: You are a Bachelor’s student and are mainly taking modules that are assessed by examinations.
• Results: You have the best marks in your department at your university.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities may apply, provided they are enrolled at one of these institutions.

How to apply

You cannot apply yourself. Your faculty, institute or department will put you forward. For clinical subjects, selection is based on specifically defined examinations taken by the nominated medical students. For the departments of nursing, midwifery and other health sciences, it is based on submitted examination records and nominations.
