University College Cork - The Peel Memorial Prizes

The Peel Memorial Prizes

You will receive a prize worth 250 EUR. You will not receive any cash. Instead, you may choose books or musical instruments worth up to this amount, subject to approval by the head of your college or faculty. University College Cork (UCC) in Ireland awards these prizes once a year. The funds come from the Peel Memorial Fund, a permanent endowment which generates approximately 750 EUR annually, enabling UCC to award, as a rule, two or three prizes, each worth 250 EUR. The exact value may vary depending on the performance of the fund’s investments.

Who can apply

• University: You are currently studying at UCC or have just completed your degree at UCC.
• Study phase: You finished your degree in your first-choice college or faculty within the minimum required time, normally in the previous academic year.
• Grades: You have achieved a ‘First Class Honours’ grade, which means 70% or better.
• Engagement: Your involvement in university life counts too.
• Field of study: Every subject at every UCC college.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

You cannot apply yourself. The UCC selects the winners by invitation, under the same conditions as for the ‘Graduate of the Year Award’, based on a report from the university’s accreditation committee.
