About this scholarship

Michael Greene Merit Scholarship

You will receive a reduction in tuition fees of 10% to 20% of your full-time fees, which, based on the current fees for international students, is equivalent to approximately 2,800 EUR per year. The Burren College of Art, a small independent art college on the west coast of Ireland, awards this reduction to postgraduate students of outstanding talent and financial need. This reduction is not automatically renewed in subsequent years. PhD and MFA students must reapply each year to retain the reduction.

Who can apply

  • Who it is for: International (non-EU) students get this award. EU and Irish students get a separate 50% fee reduction instead.
  • Level: You are accepted onto a full-time postgraduate programme: PhD, MFA or MA in Studio Art or Art & Ecology, or the Post-Baccalaureate in Studio Art or Art & Ecology.
  • Enrolment: You are studying full-time. Part-time and hybrid PhD programmes are not permitted.
  • Field of study: Fine Art, in the degree programmes listed above.
  • Merit: You are characterised by great talent and great dedication in your work.
  • Financial need: You can provide evidence that you need this support, for example by submitting tax returns.

How to apply

First, apply for a degree programme at Burren College of Art by the priority application deadline of 1 February, in order to commence your studies the following autumn. Only applicants who meet this deadline will be considered for the scholarship. Once you have been offered a place on a course, the College will send you a separate scholarship application form, which you must complete.
