The Loughlin J. Sweeney Scholarship

You receive 5,000 EUR per year for your doctoral research in Theology at St Patrick's Pontifical University in Maynooth, Ireland. The award runs for 1 year. You can renew it each year while you keep studying, as long as you apply again every time. The scholarship is named after Loughlin J. Sweeney, who led the college's development work from 1981 to 1991.

Who can apply

• Degree level: You are a PhD student at the Pontifical University of Maynooth.
• Field of study: You are studying for a PhD in Theology.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• Other funding: You will be given priority if you are not currently receiving any other scholarship or financial support for your studies.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online. If you are already enrolled as a PhD student, the university will email you a link to the application form by 30 June. If you are a new student, the university will contact you before the start of the academic year.
