Commemoration Scholarships

You will receive financial support for your Bachelor’s degree at Marino Institute of Education (MIE) in Dublin. The award is based on your knowledge of Irish and your results in the ‘Leaving Certificate’ (the Irish school-leaving qualification). The amount of the scholarship is not disclosed. This is an external scholarship programme for the Irish language, linked to state funding for the Gaeltacht (the Irish-speaking regions). The MIE recognises this scholarship alongside the Gaeltacht scholarships and scholarships for higher education in the Irish language.

Who can apply

• Level: You are a Bachelor’s student at the Marino Institute of Education.
• Irish language: You have a very good command of the Irish language (Gaeilge).
• Grades: Your award depends on your results in the Leaving Certificate Examination.
• Field of study: Open to all MIE bachelor’s degree programmes.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

This scholarship is awarded outside the MIE as part of the Irish Government’s language support programme; therefore, applications are not made through the Institute itself. To find out how and where to apply, please contact the MIE’s Enrolment Office.
