For a dissertation on French literature, you will receive a one-off prize of 1,360 EUR. The University of Calabria (UNICAL) in Cosenza, Italy, awards this prize to a recent graduate who has completed their degree there.

Who can apply

• Where you studied: You completed your degree at the University of Calabria in Cosenza, Italy.
• Degree level: You recently completed a postgraduate degree in ‘Modern Languages and Literatures’.
• Thesis topic: In your dissertation, you will analyse a work by a French writer.
• Final mark: You graduated with the top grade of 110/110, the highest mark in the Italian system.
• Exam average: Your average mark in the exams is at least 28 out of 30.
• Nationality: Open to all nationalities.

How realistic are your chances?

This prize is very narrowly defined. Only one prize is awarded to a graduate of the University of Calabria from the Department of Modern Languages whose dissertation focuses on a French writer and who has achieved a perfect final mark as well as a high average mark in their examinations. This leaves only a small group of eligible candidates. If you meet all these criteria, you stand a good chance of being the sole winner. However, the grade thresholds alone rule out most students.
