What you get

This is a one-off cash prize for the best final-year dissertation, awarded by the ‘Luigi Vanvitelli’ University of Campania in Caserta, Italy. It is open to students with a disability or a specific learning difficulty, such as dyslexia. A total of four prizes will be awarded. For a two-year Master’s programme, a single-cycle Master’s degree or a degree under the old system, the winners will receive 2,000 EUR (first place), 1,000 EUR (second) and 500 EUR (third). There is also a single prize of 1,000 EUR for the best three-year Bachelor’s thesis. The money is paid as a one-off sum, not monthly.

Who can apply

• Where you studied: You completed your degree at the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli” (formerly the Second University of Naples).
• Your degree: You obtained a bachelor’s, master’s, single-cycle or degree under the old system during that academic year.
• Disability or learning disorder: You have a recognised disability or a specific learning difficulty (DSA) and can provide evidence of this.
• Field of study: Anyone can apply.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• Previous winners: You cannot enter if you won the last edition.

How to apply

Please email the signed application form to the university department responsible for the thesis award. Please enclose your thesis, a brief summary, your degree certificate and proof of your disability or DSA. The application deadline is 10 April. A panel will assess the applications on the basis of your final grade and the quality of your dissertation. There will be no interview.

How realistic are your chances?

This award has very strict eligibility criteria: you must be a graduate of this particular university and have a recognised disability or learning difficulty, meaning that the pool of eligible candidates is small. Only four prizes are awarded, and the ranking depends solely on your final degree mark and your dissertation. A good final degree mark and a well-argued, original dissertation are crucial. If you clearly meet the criteria and your dissertation is well-researched, your chances are good.
