About this scholarship

What the travel grant covers

You get one of 4 travel grants for a research stay at the Escuela Agrícola Panamericana Zamorano in Honduras. The grant covers part of your travel costs plus food and accommodation during your stay. The University of Florence offers it to students on its Tropical Rural Development master's programme, so you can do fieldwork and research on the ground in Central America.

Who can apply

  • Degree: You are enrolled on the Master’s degree programme in ‘Tropical Rural Development’ (Laurea Magistrale) at the University of Florence.
  • Language: You speak Spanish well, as your stay and research work are taking place in Honduras.
  • Nationality: Applicants of any nationality may apply, provided they are enrolled on the relevant degree programme.
  • Research plan: You may submit a research plan for your time at Zamorano.

How to apply

You should apply via the University of Florence for the call for applications linked to your Master’s programme. Selection is based on an interview, your proposed research plan and your academic achievements.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is aimed at a small target group: only students on a specific Master’s programme in Florence who also have a good command of Spanish are eligible to apply, and there are only 4 places available. If you meet these criteria and submit a clear, well-thought-out research proposal for Zamorano, your chances are good, as there are only a few applicants competing for this scholarship.
