About this scholarship

Fee exemption at the University of Macerata

You will pay no annual enrolment fee at the University of Macerata (UNIMC) in Italy for as long as you are receiving a scholarship from the Italian government. The exemption fully covers your annual tuition fees. This is a UNIMC scheme that applies alongside your government scholarship; it is therefore not an additional cash payment. You will still have to pay certain minor fees yourself: the online stamp duty, the regional tax for the right to higher education, the supplementary fee for e-learning services, and any late payment or additional charges.

Who can apply

  • Where you study: You are enrolled at the University of Macerata in Italy or are in the process of enrolling there.
  • The scholarship: You will receive an annual scholarship from the Italian Government. This is awarded as part of a development cooperation project or a cultural and scientific agreement between Italy and your country.
  • Nationality: Applicants of any nationality may apply, provided they are eligible for such funding.
  • Field of study: Any subject.
  • Degree level: You do not yet hold a qualification at the same level or a higher level than the one for which you wish to enrol. The exemption applies to your first qualification at this level.
  • Renewal: From the second year onwards, you will only retain your exemption if the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs renews your scholarship.

How to apply

You cannot apply for this exemption online via the usual procedure. Instead, please submit the relevant form to the Student Office (Segreteria Studenti) of your faculty or upload it to your personal student portal. Please do this within the deadline for enrolment or re-enrolment for the relevant academic year and attach the official document confirming your entitlement to a scholarship for that academic year.

How realistic are your chances?

There is neither a competition nor a ranking system here. If you receive a scholarship from the Italian government and enrol at UNIMC on a bachelor’s degree programme at this level, you qualify automatically, without having to go through a selection process. The only thing you need to bear in mind are the formalities and deadlines. Submit your scholarship confirmation and the form by the enrolment deadline each year, and renew your enrolment as soon as the Ministry renews your scholarship.
