About this award / prize

What you get

You will win a cash prize of 500 EUR, and your design will go into mass production. Amina Rubinacci S.r.l., a knitwear manufacturer based in Naples, will produce and market your award-winning women’s jacket. The prize is jointly organised by the company and the Fashion Design course at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples. In addition to the cash prize, your name will be published on the company’s and the Academy’s websites, and your work will be showcased in an exhibition and a catalogue. The jury may select more than one winner, meaning that several 500 EUR prizes may be awarded in a single edition. If you accept the prize, the rights to your design will be transferred in full to the company.

Who can apply

  • Where you study: You are enrolled on the Fashion Design course at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples.
  • Study year: You are in the second or third year of the three-year degree programme.
  • What you submit: You design one women's jacket, knitwear-inspired, soft and unstructured, that could actually be produced and sold. You use the fabric the company supplies and may enter only one project.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are enrolled on this degree programme.

How to apply

Please submit two sealed A4 envelopes to the Academy’s secretariat by 12:00 on 6 June. One envelope should contain your personal details; the other should be anonymous. A panel comprising two company representatives, the course coordinator and two professors from the Academy will select ten finalists and then choose the winner(s) from this group.

How realistic are your chances?

This competition has very strict eligibility criteria. Only second- and third-year students on the Fashion Design course at this particular academy are eligible to enter, and each student may submit just one project, so the pool of entrants is small – roughly the size of an entire year group. If you’re on this course and design a jacket that’s both wearable and in line with the knitwear style the company is looking for, your chances are really good – especially as the jury may well choose more than one winner.
