What you get

At the University of Bari (Italy), you pay no tuition fees at all, or half of them if you have a recognised disability. How much you save depends on your certified degree of disability:

• Full waiver (100%): If your certified degree of disability is 66% or higher, or if you are recognised as 104/1992 under Italian law (Art. 3, paras. 1 and 3), you pay nothing. Both the tuition fee and the enrolment fee are waived.
• Half waiver (50%): If your certified invalidity is between 45% and 65%, you pay only half of the total contribution.

The exemption applies throughout your degree programme. If you are eligible for more than one exemption, the university will automatically grant you the one that offers you the greatest saving. The University of Bari grants this exemption as part of its tuition fee regulations.

Who can apply

• University: You are enrolled on a degree programme (Laurea) at the University of Bari.
• Disability: You have an official certificate stating your degree of incapacity for work. A minimum of 66% is required for full exemption (or recognition under Act 104/1992); 45% to 65% is required for half exemption.
• Income: No income limit. Your family’s income will not be checked.
• Previous degree: You can apply for exemption even if you already hold a qualification.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.

How to apply

You must submit the application form for exemption from fees (‘Richiesta Esonero Tasse’) to the Enrolment Office either at the time of enrolment or by 30 September at the latest. Please enclose the certificate confirming your degree of disability. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be processed.

How realistic are your chances?

This is not a scholarship awarded through a selection process, but an automatic entitlement. If your certificate shows the required level of incapacity for work and you are enrolled at the University of Bari, you will be granted the exemption. There is no means test and no limit on the number of participants. Your only task is to submit the correct certificate by the deadline.
