Scholarship "Roberto Rocca"

You will receive a one-off payment of 2,800 EUR (gross) if you are studying for a Master’s degree in engineering at the Polytechnic University of Milan. There are 10 scholarships available for the academic year 2025/2026. The funds come from a charitable donation by the company Dalmine S.p.A. in memory of Roberto Rocca, a former engineering student from Milan. You will receive it as a one-off lump sum. A regional tax of 8.5% is payable, and for tax purposes the amount is treated as income from employment.

Who can apply

• Degree: You are enrolled on a Master’s degree programme (Laurea Magistrale) at the Polytechnic University of Milan, either in the first year (starting in 2025/2026) or in the second year (starting in 2024/2025 and still ongoing).
• Field of study: You study one of nine engineering courses: Automation and Control, Chemical, Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics, Energy, Management, Materials and Nanotechnology, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Credits: First-year students must have earned and registered at least 15 ECTS credits. Second-year students need at least 60.
• Grades: Your weighted average of all the examinations you have registered for is at least 27/30.
• Residence: You live in Italy.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
• Financial need: Priority is given to applicants with the lowest household income, as measured by the Italian ISEE indicator.
• Other funding: This grant cannot be combined with other Politecnico scholarships or benefits under the Italian Student Support Scheme (DSU) for the same academic year. However, tuition fee exemptions and mobility grants may be retained.

How to apply

You apply through the Politecnico online services portal under "Benefits and agreements" and upload a CV. The deadline is 27 March 2026 at 12:00 noon (Italian time). Applicants are first ranked by financial need. The top 12 in each category are then invited to an interview in Italian (around May), held in person or online.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is awarded on a highly selective basis. You must be a high-achieving Master’s student in engineering at a specific university, be resident in Italy and have a grade point average of 27/30. This already narrows down the pool of applicants. As financial need is a decisive factor in the initial ranking, applicants with a lower ISEE and a clear financial hardship have the best prospects. A high income makes it more difficult to be selected, even with top marks.
