What the A.Di.S.U. Umbria scholarship gives you

If you are studying at a university in Umbria (Italy) and your family’s income is below the specified threshold, you will receive an annual grant as well as practical support for your studies. The package consists of several components:

• A cash grant paid in two instalments. The amount depends on your income bracket and whether you live at home, commute daily or move away to study.
• Free access to the student canteens.
• A full refund of the regional tuition fee amounting to 140 EUR.
• An exemption from your tuition fees.
• Female students studying STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) receive an additional allowance.

If you live far away from your university (‘fuori sede’), you can also be allocated a free room in a student hall of residence. If you take up this room, 1,500 EUR will be deducted from your cash allowance. The grant is administered by A.Di.S.U., the regional agency for the right to higher education in Umbria, and is funded by the Italian Ministry, the Umbria Region and the EU.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are enrolled on a 2026/2027 course at a higher education institution in Umbria, for example at the University of Perugia, the University for Foreigners in Perugia or one of the region’s recognised music, art or design colleges.
• Level: The programme is open to students on Bachelor’s, Master’s, single-cycle Master’s, PhD and specialisation degree programmes. Part-time students who are in employment may also apply. Specialist medical training programmes are excluded from this.
• Field of study: Open to all disciplines.
• Nationality: All nationalities welcome.
• Income: Your ISEE indicator (a measure of family income and assets) is no more than 28,339.88 EUR, and your ISPE indicator (family assets) is no more than 61,608.48 EUR.
• Study progress: First-year students are not required to have earned a minimum number of credit points. Students in higher semesters must have earned a specified number of university credit points (CFU) by 10 August.
• Age: There is no age limit for the scholarship itself. The free place in the hall of residence is available exclusively to ‘fuori sede’ students up to the age of 28.

How to apply

First, apply for your 2026 ISEE certificate at a CAF tax advice centre. Then submit the online application via the A.Di.S.U. website, using your SPID or CIE digital ID. The deadline is 2 September 2026 at 12:00. There will be no interview. Places will be allocated solely on the basis of income and academic performance; the provisional ranking list will be published on 24 September 2026.

How realistic are your chances?

This is a means-tested grant scheme, not a competition for a handful of top places. If you are studying in Umbria and your ISEE is below the threshold, you are automatically eligible, and a lower income means a higher level of funding. The main thing that could hold you back is your academic progress in the later years of your degree; it is therefore important that you maintain a good level of credits. Make sure you submit your application by the deadline, as it will be strictly enforced.
