About this award / prize

LIUC merit prize for Management Engineering

A one-off prize of 1,500 EUR is awarded for outstanding academic achievement on the Management Engineering (Ingegneria Gestionale) degree programme at the Università Carlo Cattaneo (LIUC) in Castellanza, Italy. This applies to both the Bachelor’s degree programme (Laurea Triennale) and the Master’s degree programme (Laurea Magistrale). The number of awards varies from year to year and is allocated across the individual academic years, meaning that years with more eligible students receive more awards. This is an achievement-based award and not a monthly scholarship. The funding comes mainly from LIUC’s own resources, with contributions from private donors in some years.

Who can apply

  • Degree: You are enrolled in the Bachelor's or Master's in Management Engineering at LIUC for the current academic year.
  • On-track career: Since you first enrolled, you have followed the programme of study. There have been no breaks in your studies or years repeated, either at LIUC or at any other higher education institution.
  • Grades: Your weighted overall average is at least 27 out of 30.
  • Credits: By 30 September, you will have earned sufficient credit points (CFU), for example 48 in your 2. year of your Bachelor’s degree, or 105 in your 3. year of study, or 52 in your 2. year of your Master’s programme. Master’s students in their first year of study must have successfully completed a LIUC Bachelor’s degree as scheduled or have earned at least 165 credits.
  • No same-level degree: You do not yet hold a qualification at the level for which you are applying.
  • Fees paid: You have paid all your tuition fees on time.
  • Nationality: Open to all nationalities.

How to apply

Applications are made online via the LIUC student portal. The application period begins in November and ends around 9 December. A committee draws up a ranking list of applicants based on the credits they have earned and the marks they have achieved, and the prizes are awarded to the applicants in order of this ranking. The results are usually published by January.

How realistic are your chances?

This prize is cut narrowly. Only Management Engineering students at one Italian university compete for it, and you need an average of at least 27 out of 30 plus a fully on-track career. That keeps the eligible group small. If you clearly meet the credit and grade bars and your record has no out-of-course years, your prospects are good, since ranking is purely by credits and grades.
