About this scholarship

Benefit

You will receive a refund of up to 445.50 EUR of the tuition fees you paid for one academic year at the University of Ferrara. This is a one-off refund of your enrolment fees. The regional tax and stamp duty are not included in this amount. The University is running this programme in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of University and Research to support students studying science subjects. The total amount is 152,592 EUR. It will be paid out to eligible students in order of their ranking until the funds have been exhausted.

Eligibility

  • University: You are enrolled at the University of Ferrara.
  • Field of study: You study a scientific or technical degree, at bachelor or master level. This covers physics, mathematics, chemistry, biology, biotechnology, geology, computer science, natural and environmental science, engineering (civil, electronic, mechanical, industrial, IT) and architecture.
  • Timing: You have not been enrolled for longer than the standard duration of study for your degree programme. This is calculated from the date of your very first enrolment at an Italian higher education institution.
  • Fees paid: You have paid more than 156 euros in fees, so you were not fully exempt from the fee.
  • Financial need: Your ISEE index for 2024 is below 60,000 EUR. The ISEE is the official Italian measure of household income and assets. If your income comes from abroad, please provide the relevant certificate.
  • Study progress: By 10 August 2025, you had earned a minimum number of credit points (CFU): 12 in the first year of study, 36 in the second and 60 in the third.
  • Nationality: Open to all nationalities.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via your personal account on the University of Ferrara portal. You must log in using an Italian digital identity (SPID or CIE). The application deadline for the academic year 2024/2025 is 14 April 2026. Applicants will be ranked according to the number of credits they have earned and their grade point average. Funding will be allocated in descending order of this list until the funds have been exhausted.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is restricted to one university and specific scientific and technical degree programmes, so the eligible group is not particularly large. Places are allocated according to a ranking based on credit points and marks until the funds have been exhausted; consistent academic progress is therefore crucial. If you clearly fall within the list of eligible degree programmes, meet the income and credit limit thresholds, and can demonstrate good academic results, your prospects are good.
