About this scholarship

Benefit

You will receive a one-off grant grant to fund a semester abroad, which is paid as a one-off lump sum for one academic year. The amount varies each year depending on the available budget. In the years 2021/22, it amounted to 2,723 EUR in each case (4 grants), and in the years 2022/23, it amounted to 1,300 EUR in each case (6 scholarships). The funding comes from the Varese Chamber of Commerce. LIUC, Università Carlo Cattaneo in Castellanza, distributes the funds. It supports students who have been selected for an exchange programme at a university outside Europe or for a dual-degree programme (in which students receive a degree from two universities) within or outside Europe.

Eligibility

  • University and subject: You are studying Business Administration (Economia Aziendale) or Industrial Engineering (Ingegneria Gestionale) at LIUC as part of a Bachelor’s, Master’s or single-cycle degree programme.
  • Selected for a stay abroad: The LIUC Office of International Relations has already selected you for an exchange programme outside Europe or a dual degree programme.
  • Nationality: You are an Italian national.
  • Credits: You have earned a minimum number of credits for your year, for example 35 in bachelor year 2, 90 in bachelor year 3, or at least 150 as a first-year master's student.
  • Grades: Your weighted average mark is at least 25 out of 30.
  • Language: You meet the partner university’s minimum language proficiency requirements.
  • On track: You have never fallen behind the official course schedule (‘fuori corso’) at any university.
  • Financial need: Your household’s ISEE (the Italian income indicator used to award student grants) is no more than 45,000 EUR. The selection committee may also consider applicants with a higher income if there are no further eligible candidates available.

How to apply

Firstly, you must be selected by LIUC’s Office of International Relations for an exchange or dual degree place. You must then submit the application form together with your ISEE certificate, usually by mid-October. A selection committee draws up a ranking list of applicants based on the number of credits earned in excess of the minimum requirement and their grade point average. Each faculty (Economics and Engineering) is guaranteed at least one scholarship.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is awarded to only a very small number of applicants. You must be an Italian student on one of the two LIUC degree programmes, have already been selected for a study period abroad, have very good grades and be able to demonstrate that your household income is sufficiently low. This means that each year there is only a small group of applicants competing for a handful of scholarships. If you clearly meet these criteria and have a strong record in terms of credit points and marks, your chances are good, especially as each university is guaranteed at least one scholarship.
