What the Lord Mayor of London Scholarship gives you

You will receive the 50% off your tuition fees for the first year of a Bachelor’s degree from City, St George’s, University of London (formerly City University London). The money will not be paid out to you; it will be deducted directly from your first-year tuition fees. City St George’s administers the scholarship and awards it for outstanding academic achievement. As a scholarship holder, you will become a ‘City Scholar’, which means you will represent the university at events, get involved in student groups and take part in charitable activities.

Who can apply

• Degree level: You are starting a Bachelor’s degree at City St George’s.
• Field of study: Any topic is fine.
• Fee status: You will pay the tuition fees applicable to UK nationals. Students from the EU are eligible provided they are treated as UK nationals, for example under the EU Settlement Scheme. Students paying international tuition fees are not eligible to apply and are subject to separate arrangements.
• Grades: You meet, or even exceed, the entry requirements for your chosen degree programme. Places are allocated on the basis of academic merit.
• Extra: If you receive a UniCares grant (for former care home residents, students from broken homes or young adult carers), you may also be eligible for this grant.

How to apply

There is no separate application process. The scholarship is linked to your admission and is awarded on the basis of your academic performance at the start of your degree programme. You therefore only need to apply for your degree programme.

How realistic are your chances?

The prize is awarded exclusively to Bachelor’s students paying domestic tuition fees at a university, and its award depends on whether the entry requirements for the degree programme are clearly met or exceeded. The eligible group is therefore clearly defined, but by no means small. To date, more than 50 students have received this award. If your fee status meets the requirements and your grades clearly satisfy the entry requirements for your degree programme, your prospects are good.
