About this scholarship
Imperial Athletes Sport Scholarship
You get about EUR 230 to EUR 3,500 per year (£200 to £3,000) plus access to high-performance sport services. The money can go towards kit, equipment, coaching and competition costs. The services include strength and conditioning sessions in the gyms at Ethos and Putney Boathouse, physiotherapy, sports rehab and massage, and online sessions on sports psychology, nutrition and lifestyle. There are three levels: Bronze pays about EUR 230 to EUR 470 (£200 to £400), Silver about EUR 290 to EUR 1,170 (£250 to £1,000), and Gold about EUR 1,170 to EUR 3,500 (£1,000 to £3,000) with the fullest set of services. The award comes from Imperial Athletes, the sports arm of Imperial College London.
Who can apply
- University: You are already enrolled at Imperial College London. You apply as a continuing student, so you cannot apply before you start there.
- Study level: Open at every level: Bachelor, Master (taught or research) and PhD.
- Mode: Full-time and part-time students can both apply.
- Field of study: Open to all subjects and departments.
- Nationality: Open to both UK (Home) and international (Overseas) students.
- Sport level: You compete in your sport at regional, national or international level and can show you will develop further.
- Commitment: You represent Imperial at BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) fixtures and help promote your sport through social media and at events.
How to apply
You fill in the online application form on the scholarship page. Applications open in the summer before Term 1, with a second window during the winter break that closes shortly after Term 2 begins. If you are shortlisted, you are invited to an online interview, and the performance team makes the final choice.
How realistic are your chances?
This award is limited to Imperial students who already compete at a serious level, so the pool is smaller than for open scholarships. A high competition level alone does not guarantee a place: the performance team weighs several factors and decides case by case. If you compete at regional level or above and can show real commitment to your sport, applying early in a window gives you a fair shot.
