Programa MASTER (MAEC-AECID)

You get 1,900 EUR per month for 11 months to complete a one-year master's degree at a Spanish university, from 1 September 2025 to 31 July 2026. You also get health insurance in Spain, paid for you (up to 80 EUR per month), covering illnesses that start after your grant begins. Spain's international cooperation agency (AECID) runs the programme and funds 90 grants in this round. The grant cannot be extended or renewed, and you pay any bank transfer fees yourself.

Who can apply

• Nationality: You are a citizen of Bolivia, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, the Philippines, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Paraguay, Peru or the Dominican Republic.
• Your job: You are a civil servant or a permanent public-sector employee, not on a temporary contract. This includes staff in the public education and university system.
• Employer approval: Your supervisor has authorised you to study abroad.
• No EU ties: You do not hold dual nationality with Spain or another EU country, and you do not live in Spain or another EU country.
• Field of study: Any subject is open, as long as the master's fits your academic or professional background.
• Format: The master's must be an official on-campus programme in Spain of at most 60 ECTS credits. Online programmes are not funded.
• Language: If you are not from a Spanish-speaking country, you show proof of Spanish. If the master's is taught in another language, you show proof of that language too.

How to apply

You apply only online through AECID's electronic portal (Sede Electronica). Paper applications are not accepted. Selection runs in stages: AECID first publishes admission lists, then evaluates the accepted applications before deciding who gets a grant.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is cut narrowly: you must be a permanent public employee from one of the 13 listed countries, with your employer's permission to study abroad. So the eligible group is far smaller than for open scholarships. With 90 grants on offer, prospects are solid for a well-matched applicant whose chosen master's clearly fits their professional profile. Submit a complete, error-free application, since the process filters on formal requirements before it looks at merit.
