About this scholarship

Aquisis grant for studying abroad

For a study period abroad lasting from 2 to 10 months, you will receive one-off payment between 180 EUR and 2,300 EUR. The exact amount depends on the duration of your stay and your family income. Students with a disability may receive an additional 150 EUR upon presentation of proof. The grant is awarded by the French region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. You can combine it with an Erasmus+ grant, a university grant or a CROUS grant (student financial support from the regional French student services). If you travel by train rather than by plane or car, you will also receive an annual travel pass for the regional Mobigo rail network. The grant is paid as a one-off payment and cannot be renewed.

Who can apply

  • Your school: You are enrolled at a higher education institution in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France and are attending face-to-face classes at one of its campuses.
  • Level: You are in the 1 and 5 years of your degree course, at least one year after taking your A-levels.
  • What the trip is for: You are going abroad to study as part of your degree programme. This must be approved by your home university. A work placement with a company does not count.
  • Where you go: Anywhere in the world, with the exception of mainland France and its overseas territories. Your destination must be at least 150 km away from both your parents’ home and your place of study in France.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. International students are simply not permitted to travel to their home country.
  • Field of study: Open to all subjects.
  • Financial need: According to last year’s tax assessment, your family income per person (quotient familial, the French method of calculating per capita income as stated in your tax assessment) is less than 25,830 EUR.

How to apply

First, contact the mobility officer at your home university, who will provide you with an access code for the Envol online platform. You should then create an account on the platform and submit your application no later than 30 days after the start of your study period abroad. The application period runs every year from 2 January to 25 October.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is subject to strict eligibility criteria: you must be studying at a higher education institution in a specific region of France, go abroad as part of your studies, and meet the income threshold. As a result, the number of eligible applicants is limited. If you clearly meet these conditions and apply within the deadline of 30 days after the start of your trip, your chances are good.
