About this scholarship
Adami dance training grants
You will receive a grant for up to four continuing-education courses from the Centre national de la danse (CN D) in France. You will choose this from the current season’s programme, which runs from September to June. The grant covers the fees for professional dance training, but not for an academic qualification. It is administered jointly by the CN D and Adami, the French collecting society that manages payments for performing artists. The exact amount is not disclosed; it corresponds to the cost of the courses you are taking.
Who can apply
- Who you are: You work as a dancer or choreographer and can provide evidence of your professional career (payslips, employment certificates, contracts). Alternatively, you have obtained a qualification in the last three years from a state conservatoire, a state choreography centre or as part of a training programme for dance and career entry.
- No other funding: No professional or public organisation (such as AFDAS or France Travail) may cover the costs of these courses. This is a mandatory requirement.
- Timing gap: If you have already received one of these grants, you must wait 12 months before you can apply again.
- Field: Dance and choreography.
- Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. The training takes place in France.
How to apply
Please contact the CN D directly (offices in Pantin and Lyon) to check whether you meet the eligibility criteria and to prepare your application documents. The CN D carries out an initial selection of applicants and forwards the shortlisted candidates to Adami for final approval. There is no fixed application deadline; applications are aligned with the academic year, which runs from September to June.
How realistic are your chances?
This funding is very narrowly defined: you must be a professional dancer or a recent graduate, be aiming to undertake a CN D course, and have no other means of funding it. This keeps the pool of applicants small. If you clearly meet these criteria and can prove that no professional body is covering the costs, your chances are good. It is helpful to get in touch with the CN D right at the start of the season.
