About this scholarship
What you get
You get about 5,800 EUR (£5,000) paid in instalments towards your living costs. The money runs for your whole degree, as long as you keep making satisfactory academic progress. This means the School decides each year that you can move up without repeating a year. If you fail to progress in any year, the payments stop from that point. The award comes from the University of Edinburgh's School of Mathematics, which gives out several scholarships each year.
Who can apply
- Degree: You are applying for a full-time undergraduate degree run by the School of Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh.
- Field of study: Your maths programme must be run by the School of Mathematics itself. If maths is only part of a degree run by another school, you do not qualify.
- New students only: You are a new applicant, not someone already enrolled on the programme.
- Fee status: You have International/EU fee status. This means you come from a country outside the UK and Ireland.
- Application in progress: You have applied through UCAS, the UK's central university admissions service. You do not need an offer yet to start your scholarship application.
- Grades: Selection is competitive and based purely on academic results, so you need outstanding grades.
How to apply
You apply through the University's MyEd portal. You can access it once you have your login details after your UCAS application. Write a personal statement as part of the application. You will hear the outcome by 23 April 2026. Late applications are not accepted.
How realistic are your chances?
This award is narrow: only new international students starting a maths degree run by this one school can apply, so the pool is smaller than for open scholarships. Selection rests entirely on academic results, so top grades decide it. If your results are genuinely outstanding and you fit the maths-degree condition exactly, your prospects are solid.
