Chancellor's International Scholarship (University of Leicester)

You get a tuition fee discount of about EUR 3,500 per year (GBP 3,000) as an international student at the University of Leicester in the UK. As an undergraduate you keep the discount for every year of your degree, as long as you still meet the conditions. As a taught postgraduate (a one-year Master's or a PGCE, the postgraduate teaching qualification) you get it once, for up to one year. The money is not paid as cash. It comes straight off your tuition fees. The award is named after the university's Chancellor, space scientist Dame Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock.

Who can apply

• Fee status: You are classed as an international student for fees, not a UK/home student.
• Level: You are starting a full-time, on-campus undergraduate degree, a taught Master's or a PGCE.
• Course: Most undergraduate degrees count, including STEM and Biological Sciences Foundation years, all 'International Year 1' courses and eligible top-up degrees. Medicine and the LLB Maitrise do not count.
• Grades: You meet the standard entry requirements for your course, at a level equivalent to British A-levels.
• Where you live: Undergraduates cannot be based in Thailand. Postgraduates cannot be based in India or Thailand. Separate scholarships cover those countries.
• Start date: You begin in September 2026, January 2027 or April 2027.

How to apply

You do not apply separately. If you qualify, you are considered automatically and told about the discount when you get your course offer or submit your final results. You can hold only one University of Leicester scholarship. If you qualify for more than one, you get the higher-value one.

How realistic are your chances?

This is not a competitive award with limited places. Any international student who meets the standard entry requirements for an eligible course gets the discount automatically. If your fee status, course and grades fit and you are not based in an excluded country, you can count on it.
