About this scholarship
What you get with Erasmus+ at the University of Évora
You get a monthly grant to spend part of your studies or a work placement abroad. The University of Évora in Portugal runs this as part of the EU's Erasmus+ programme. The grant tops up the difference in living costs between Portugal and the country you go to, so the amount depends on your destination and how many months you stay. Portugal's national Erasmus+ agency sets the rate each year, and it is written into your Erasmus contract before you leave. You can choose from four options:
- Study abroad: 3 to 12 months at a partner university.
- Work placement: 2 to 12 months in a company, research centre or university, for credit or in addition to your studies. Recent graduates can go too, up to 12 months after finishing.
- Blended Intensive Programme (BIP): a short trip abroad of 5 to 30 days combined with online sessions, worth at least 3 ECTS.
- Short doctoral stays: 5 to 30 days in a research lab or partner university.
If you have a disability or chronic illness, you can get extra funding and help with accessible housing, transport and healthcare.
Who can apply
- Where you study: You are enrolled at the University of Évora in a Bachelor, Master or PhD programme, or you are a graduate going on a placement within 12 months of finishing.
- Credits passed: Bachelor and integrated Master students need at least 60 ECTS passed. Master students need 30 ECTS. PhD students need 30 ECTS or an approved research project.
- Language: You have Portuguese at B1 level (the teaching language). English at B1 is recommended, B2 for some courses.
- Field of study: Any subject, as long as there is a suitable partner institution.
How to apply
You apply online through your SIIUE student profile and list 4 to 6 preferred host institutions in order. For 2026/27 there are two rounds. The first runs from 9 February to 6 March 2026, with results by 31 March. The second runs from 4 May to 5 June 2026, with results by 31 August. Places are ranked by the university's academic rules or the specific call.
How realistic are your chances?
This is only open to University of Évora students who already meet the credit thresholds, so you compete with your own coursemates rather than a huge open field. If you have passed the required ECTS, meet the language level and pick partner universities with enough places, your prospects are good. Applying in the first round gives you the widest choice of destinations before spots fill up.
