Master Universitario en Energias Renovables en Sistemas Electricos UC3M (FUNDACION IBERDROLA)

What you get

You get a support package to study a one-year master's in renewable energy at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) in Spain. It covers 2,400 EUR of the 7,200 EUR tuition, plus 900 EUR per month for accommodation and living costs during the course. You also get a return economy flight from your country's capital to Spain and non-pharmaceutical medical insurance. You pay the remaining 4,800 EUR of tuition yourself. The programme runs from September 2026 to July 2027. It is funded by the Fundacion Iberdrola Espana together with the Fundacion Carolina. Only 2 scholarships are awarded.

Who can apply

• Nationality: You are a citizen of Brazil or Portugal, and you live in a member country of the Ibero-American community of nations or in Portugal.
• Degree: You have finished a university degree by the time you apply. Fields such as electrical, energy, electronics, industrial, automation or mechanical engineering are preferred.
• Where you study: The master's takes place at UC3M in Madrid, taught in the afternoons. It is an official, accredited degree worth 60 ECTS and lets you go on to a doctorate.
• Spanish: If Spanish is not your first language (this mainly affects Brazilian applicants), you need level B2.
• Grades: You must get your grade average recognised by the Spanish ministry through an online procedure.

How to apply

You apply online through the Fundacion Carolina platform. The deadline is 2 March 2026 at 09:00 Spanish time, and results are announced by 31 July 2026. UC3M shortlists candidates and a committee ranks them. You may be invited to a video interview (Brazilian applicants hold it in Spanish), where you show your original documents and grades.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is cut very narrowly: only Brazilian or Portuguese citizens with an engineering background can apply, and just 2 places are on offer. The eligible group is small, so if you clearly match the technical field and meet the Spanish and grade requirements, your prospects are reasonable. A strong engineering degree and a convincing interview set applicants apart.
