About this scholarship

NTU Alumni Discount (20% off postgraduate fees)

You get 20% off your tuition fees for a postgraduate course at Nottingham Trent University (NTU) in the UK, if you already studied there. The discount applies to full-time, part-time and distance-learning courses, including Master's degrees, the MBA and PhDs. Part-time students get the 20% split evenly across each year of study. You can use the discount up to two times in total. Some courses are excluded, so check that yours qualifies first.

Who can apply

  • Your link to NTU: You graduated from NTU with a recognised degree (BA, BEng, BSc, LLB, BArch, PGDip, MA or MSc), or you are a current NTU student moving straight into a postgraduate course.
  • Where you study: The postgraduate course must be taught by NTU. Courses only validated by NTU do not count.
  • Nationality: Open to both UK and international students.
  • Field of study: Open to most subjects. Some Law, Business, Architecture, Social Work, Nursing and Education courses are excluded, as are distance-learning PhDs.
  • Other funding: You cannot use it if a scholarship or bursary already covers 50% or more of your fees, or if your employer or a professional body fully sponsors you. Partial sponsorship is fine, and the discount applies to the part you pay yourself.
  • Not eligible: Exchange or study-abroad students without an NTU degree, students repeating their first year, and those moving directly from Nottingham Trent International College.

How to apply

If you graduated from NTU in 2019/20 or later, you do not need to apply. The discount is added automatically once you accept your place and meet all admission conditions. If you graduated earlier, or you are using the discount for a second time, email your degree certificate and NTU ID number to the scholarships team (subject line "Alumni discount") before you enrol, for a course starting in the 2026/27 academic year.

How realistic are your chances?

This is not a competitive award. It is a fixed discount for a defined group, so if you are an NTU graduate or student moving onto an eligible course, you get it. The main things that could rule you out are an excluded course or already having other funding worth 50% or more of your fees. Check your course against the exclusion list. For recent graduates the discount comes automatically.
