University of Brighton - University international scholarships

What you get

You will receive a reduction on your tuition fees at the University of Brighton in England. Over the entire duration of a standard three-year Bachelor’s degree programme, this amounts to up to about 4,600 EUR, comprising two scholarships awarded automatically. The Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship provides you with 4,000 GBP over three years: 2,000 GBP in the first year, followed by 1,000 GBP in both the second and third years. In addition, you will receive either the ‘Deans’ Global Talent Award’ or the ‘USA Scholars’ Award’, each worth 1,500 GBP (500 GBP per year). These grants are used exclusively to reduce your tuition fees. They are not paid out in cash and cannot be used to cover rent or living costs.

Brighton also offers a separate sports scholarship for talented athletes. This covers the costs of training, equipment, travel and competitions. In addition, it includes a gym membership, professional coaching, physiotherapy and mentoring – that is, personalised support from an experienced adviser.

Who can apply

• Level: You have been offered a place on a full-time Bachelor’s degree programme starting in September 2026 and are a new student at the University of Brighton.
• Fee status: You are considered a student subject to the fees applicable to international students.
• Funding: You must cover the costs yourself. A student loan or government loan is acceptable, but you must not receive financial support from a public authority, a charity or a company.
• Field of study: Open to all degree programmes, with the exception of Brighton and Sussex Medical School and the MPharm degree programme in Pharmacy.
• Nationality: The awards presented by the Vice-Chancellor and the Deans are open to individuals of any nationality. The ‘USA Scholars’ Award’, however, which carries a prize of 1,500 GBP, is open to US citizens or individuals permanently resident in the USA.
• Where you enrol: You will begin your degree programme directly at the University of Brighton, not at a partner university or its international college (UBIC).
• Extra for the Deans' award: You show great academic potential.
• Sport scholarship only: You have taken part in competitions at least at regional level and have been granted conditional or unconditional eligibility for 2026-27.

How to apply

You do not need to apply for the Vice-Chancellor’s, Deans’ or US scholarships. They are awarded automatically, provided you meet the criteria. The university will check this once you have enrolled and paid your fees by the deadline. The sports scholarship is an exception to this: you apply online via the ‘Sport Brighton’ website and must reapply each year.

How realistic are your chances?

The fee-reduction scholarships are not competitive. If you clearly meet the criteria, you will receive them without having to apply, so a suitable, self-funded international student is highly likely to be awarded one. The sports scholarship is different: there are only a limited number of places available, and you must pass a regional competition. Your chances depend on your sporting ability and the calibre of this year’s pool of applicants.
