What you get

You get a one-off payment of 1,392 EUR, awarded purely for outstanding study results. There is no income limit and no financial-need check, so only your grades and credits count. The scholarship is funded by the Higher Education Support Office of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano/South Tyrol, which is awarding 182 of these in the 2026 round. You can combine it with other funding, such as an ordinary study grant. It is paid out around the end of August 2026.

Who can apply

• Level: You attended or finished university (or a university of applied sciences) in the 2024/2025 academic year.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• Where you study: Your university can be anywhere in Italy or abroad. For universities abroad, the country must have signed the Lisbon Convention, a treaty on recognising qualifications.
• Residence: If you study in South Tyrol, you need EU citizenship or a non-EU status such as a long-term residence permit, refugee status, or at least one year of continuous residence in South Tyrol. If you study outside South Tyrol, you need at least two years of continuous registered residence in South Tyrol. People listed in the AIRE register (Italians residing abroad) cannot apply.
• Grades (Italy): Between 1 November 2024 and 31 October 2025 you earned at least 42 ECTS credits with a weighted average of at least 28/30, or you graduated with a final mark of at least 107/110.
• Grades (abroad): In the same period you earned at least 42 ECTS with an average of at least 1.3 on the Austrian scale (a conversion table exists for other systems), or you graduated with a final mark of at least 1.3.
• Study duration: You are no more than 6 months over the standard length of your degree, and you have not already completed another degree of the same or higher level.
• Bonus points: You can raise your ranking with a C1 (or higher) certificate in a foreign language, or by joining an international exchange such as Erasmus for at least 120 days.

How to apply

You apply online only, through the myCIVIS portal, between 16 March and 24 April 2026, 12:00. There is no interview. Awards are given by ranking based on the study data you submit. A provisional ranking is published after the deadline. You can then request corrections within a set period before the final ranking is confirmed.

How realistic are your chances?

This is a pure merit award. If you clear the credit and grade thresholds and meet the South Tyrol residence rule, you are in the running with no interview to prepare. With 182 scholarships available, the pool is decent, but the fixed grade bars mean strong students compete against strong students. Getting your submitted data right, and claiming the language and exchange bonus points where you qualify, is what improves your ranking.
