About this scholarship
What you get
You get a tuition fee discount of about EUR 4,600 to EUR 11,500 (£4,000 to £10,000) on your master's fees at Cardiff University in Wales. The exact amount depends on where you normally live. The standard award is about EUR 4,600 (£4,000). You get around EUR 6,900 (£6,000) if you live in Egypt, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Mexico, Pakistan, South Korea, Taiwan, the USA or Vietnam. You get around EUR 11,500 (£10,000) if you live in Bangladesh or Nigeria. This is a discount off your fees, not cash. It usually applies to your first year only. The exception is the MSc Social Work, where it runs across both years.
Who can apply
- Level: You are starting a taught master's (for example MSc, MA, LLM or MArch) at Cardiff University. Postgraduate Certificate and Diploma courses do not count.
- Course: Your programme is on Cardiff's list of eligible courses for your start date. The September 2026 intake covers over 120 programmes. The January 2027 intake covers only a handful of business, data science and healthcare master's.
- Fee status: You pay international (overseas) fees and study full time on the Cardiff campus. Distance learning and exchange students do not qualify.
- Where you live: You have lived in your home country for at least three years. If you live in mainland China or Turkey, you cannot get this award.
- Funding: You pay your own fees. A student loan is fine. You cannot use other institutional funding paid straight to the university, and you cannot combine this with another Cardiff scholarship or discount.
- Grades: You meet the published entry requirements for your course exactly. If you are admitted with lower grades than published, you keep your place but lose the scholarship.
How to apply
There is no separate scholarship application. You apply for an eligible master's. If you get an offer, accept it and pay any deposit by the deadline on your offer letter. The discount is then added automatically when you enrol. For the September 2026 intake, apply to the university by 31 July 2026 and meet all offer conditions by 20 August 2026.
How realistic are your chances?
This is not a competitive award. Everyone who fits the criteria gets it automatically, so there is no selection panel to impress. Your real task is getting admitted to an eligible course, meeting the published entry grades exactly, and hitting the acceptance and deposit deadlines. If you live in an eligible country and do all that, you will receive the discount.
