University of Sunderland Impact Scholarship

You get 1,000 GBP in cash (about 1,150 EUR) in your first year at the University of Sunderland. It is paid in two instalments of 500 GBP: one on 6 November 2026 and one on 5 February 2027. The award goes to new full-time undergraduate students. You do not apply separately, you are considered automatically.

Who can apply

• Degree: You start a full-time undergraduate course in autumn 2026 at the City Campus, Sir Tom Cowie at St Peter's Campus, or the Northern Academy of Music Education (NAME).
• Field of study: Most subjects count. Excluded are Medicine (MBChB), Midwifery Practice, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Paramedic Science and Out of Hospital Care, Social Work, and any Nursing course.
• Where you study: At the University of Sunderland in the UK.
• Nationality: You count as a "Home" (UK) student. International students cannot apply.
• Age: You are under 21 on 31 August 2026.
• Other funding: You hold no other University of Sunderland scholarship or bursary. Standard student finance (SLC) is fine, but you cannot have ELCAS funding.
• Deadlines: Your application reaches the university by 14 January 2026. You name Sunderland as your firm choice by 3 June 2026. You enrol by 6 October 2026.

How to apply

You do not send a separate application. Every student who meets the criteria is assessed automatically. Selection is based on how well your UCAS personal statement matches the university's values: being inspiring, striving for excellence, and being inclusive, collaborative and innovative. The statement must be your own original work. If it is plagiarised or written with AI tools, the award can be withdrawn.

How realistic are your chances?

The eligibility is fairly tight. You must be a Home student under 21, on an eligible course, holding no other Sunderland award, so the pool is smaller than for open scholarships. Selection rests on your personal statement showing a genuine fit with the university's values, so a clear, well-written statement is what sets you apart.
