King's College London - Hong Kong Scholarships

What you get

You will receive about 5,800 EUR per year (£5,000) for up to three years, amounting to a total of approximately 17,300 EUR (£15,000). This will enable you to complete a three-year full-time Bachelor’s degree at King’s College London. From 2025 to 26, you can also move into free student accommodation at the International Students’ House on Great Portland Street in London. For 40 weeks (September to June), you will be provided with a place in a twin room with an en-suite bathroom, which you will share with another student of the same gender; the value of this is approximately 9,200 EUR (£7,966). The King’s Alumni Association in Hong Kong funds this scholarship and awards one scholarship each year. The scholarship does not cover years spent studying abroad, gap years (a year spent studying for a separate degree as part of your course), study breaks or repeat years.

Who can apply

• Residence: You are a permanent resident of Hong Kong.
• Degree level: This is your first bachelor’s degree, which you obtained as part of a three-year full-time degree programme at King’s College London.
• Your place at King's: You have accepted a firm offer of a place on an eligible degree programme starting in September.
• Field of study: Any topic is fine.
• Grades: You have an excellent academic record.
• Personal statement: You explain your plans for after graduation and how you would like to get involved in Hong Kong.
• UK student finance: If you are eligible, you must apply for the full state grant to cover tuition fees and living costs. You must also authorise Student Finance England to pass this financial information on to your higher education institution.

How to apply

Please complete the online form and email it, together with scanned copies of your supporting documents, to the King’s Scholarship Office. The application deadline is 31 July. Selection will be based on your academic achievements and your personal statement.

How realistic are your chances?

Only one scholarship is awarded each year, and you must already have received a firm offer of a place from King’s College for a three-year undergraduate degree programme. The pool of applicants is therefore small, but competition is fierce. Your academic achievements and your personal statement are the deciding factors. A clear, compelling personal statement in which you explain that you intend to return to Hong Kong to make a contribution there is what sets strong applicants apart from the rest.
