About this scholarship
Erasmus+ mobility grant at Iscte - Lisbon University Institute
You will receive a monthly grant to enable you to complete part of your studies abroad or undertake an internship there. The amount depends on the cost of living in your destination: 450 EUR per month for high-cost countries (such as Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands and the Nordic countries), 400 EUR for medium-cost countries (such as Spain, Greece, the Czech Republic and Malta) and 350 EUR for low-cost countries (such as Poland, Hungary, Romania and Turkey). A single stay lasts between 2 and 12 months, and your total Erasmus+ period per study cycle must not exceed 12 months. You will also receive a one-off travel allowance, which increases depending on the distance – from 28 EUR for the nearest destinations up to 1,735 EUR for the furthest ones. If you travel by train, bus or carpool, an additional 50 EUR will be added. If you are already receiving social assistance at Iscte, you will receive an additional 250 EUR per month. The grant is funded by the EU’s Erasmus+ programme and is paid out by Iscte – Instituto Universitario de Lisboa (Iscte-IUL), a public university in Lisbon, Portugal.
Who can apply
- University: You are enrolled on a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD programme at Iscte.
- Study phase: Bachelor's students can go from the 2nd year onwards; Master's and PhD students from the 2nd semester of their 1st year.
- Credits so far: Before you left, you had earned at least 18 ECTS credits at Iscte.
- Field of study: Open to all subjects.
- Nationality: Any nationality can apply. You just cannot go to your country of nationality or residence, and not to Portugal.
- Recent graduates: You can also apply for an internship abroad if you are selected during your final year of study, provided that you undertake it within 12 months of completing your degree.
How to apply
Applications are made via Iscte’s Fenix system. For a study placement, you can list up to 5 partner universities in your order of preference; applications for work placements are accepted throughout the year. There are fixed deadlines for study mobility, which are announced each year – so make sure you apply in good time. Late applicants will be placed on a waiting list, and there is no guarantee of a grant. A points-based system is used in the selection process, which gives priority to students who have never taken part in an Erasmus+ exchange before. Your grades are taken into account, and bonus points are awarded for taking part in the buddy mentoring programme (where you help incoming exchange students settle in).
