About this scholarship
What the Erasmus+ student grant gives you
Whilst studying or undertaking an internship abroad, you will receive a monthly Erasmus+ grant of approximately 500 EUR. The exact amount depends on your destination country and is reviewed each year, meaning that a higher amount is paid in a more expensive country. You are eligible for funding for up to 12 months per study cycle: 12 months during your short-term study programme and bachelor’s degree, and for a further 12 months during your master’s degree. The funding is paid out by the Polytechnic University of Bragança (UPB, formerly IPB) in Portugal. You can choose between a study placement at a European partner university (3 to 12 months) or a work placement with a company, institution or organisation in Europe (2 to 12 months). Both will be recorded in your Diploma Supplement, the official document listing your academic achievements.
Who can apply
- Where you study: You are enrolled at the Polytechnic University of Bragança (UPB) in Portugal.
- Level for a study period: You are a Bachelor’s or Master’s student.
- Level for a traineeship: You are a student on a short-term degree programme, a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme, or you have just completed your degree and are undertaking the work placement within 12 months of receiving your degree certificate.
- Where you go: Your destination is a European institution that has an Erasmus agreement with the UPB.
- Field of study: Any subject.
- Nationality: Any nationality is acceptable as long as you are enrolled at the UPB.
How to apply
Applications are made online via the UPB’s Erasmus application portal. The deadlines are set each year by the International Office. Before you leave, you should discuss your study or work placement plan with your faculty’s Erasmus coordinator.
How realistic are your chances?
This scholarship is aimed exclusively at students who are already enrolled at the UPB in Bragança; the pool of applicants is therefore limited to this one university. According to the UPB, it guarantees a scholarship for the entire duration of your stay abroad; so once your study abroad placement has been approved and a valid partnership agreement is in place, your chances are good. Clarifying your partner university and your study plan at an early stage is crucial to staying on schedule.
