About this scholarship

Erasmus+ mobility grant at Iscte Lisbon

You will receive a grant of around monthly Erasmus+ grant EUR to study or undertake an internship abroad. The exact amount depends on your destination country. You can spend between 2 and 12 months abroad per period, but no more than a total of 12 months per study cycle. Short stays of between 5 and 30 days are also possible. Iscte – Instituto Universitario de Lisboa (a public university in Portugal) pays out the grant via the EU’s Erasmus+ programme. If you are already receiving social assistance (SAS) from Iscte, you will receive an additional 250 EUR per month for a longer stay. If you travel by bus, train or carpool, there is a one-off allowance of 50 EUR.

Who can apply

  • University: You are enrolled on a bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral programme at Iscte – Instituto Universitario de Lisboa.
  • Study phase: Undergraduate students may take part from their second year onwards. Master’s and PhD students may take part from the second semester of their first year onwards. Exceptions apply to short work placements.
  • Where you go: A partner university or a public or private organisation abroad. This must not be located in Portugal or in your home country. Placements may not be undertaken at EU institutions or agencies.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply, as long as you are fully enrolled at Iscte.
  • Field of study: Open to all subjects.
  • Grades and ECTS: You have been selected on the basis of your academic performance. You must earn at least as many credit points abroad as required by your Iscte degree programme, which is usually 30 ECTS per semester.

How to apply

Applications are made via the Fenix+ system, where you can list up to five partner universities in order of preference. For study mobility in 2026/2027, the second application round runs from 16. March to 13 April 2026. Applications for work placements are accepted throughout the year. Places are allocated on the basis of academic merit, with priority given to students who have not yet studied abroad.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is open exclusively to students who are already enrolled at Iscte. You therefore apply through your own university rather than via the Europe-wide competition. Priority is given to students with no previous Erasmus experience, which improves your chances if you are studying abroad for the first time. Make sure you apply by the deadline and put realistic partner universities at the top of your list. If you apply late, you will only be offered any remaining places without financial support.
