What you get

You get 6,500 EUR per academic year for two years, so up to 13,000 EUR in total, paid in six instalments. Your tuition fees are also fully waived: you only pay 157.04 EUR for regional taxes, stamp duty and insurance. The University of Bologna funds 30 of these grants to bring international students into its master's programmes.

Who can apply

• Degree level: You are starting a two-year master's degree (Laurea Magistrale) at the University of Bologna for the first time in the 2025-26 academic year.
• International qualification: You earned the qualification that admits you to this master's outside the Italian school system. Your citizenship does not matter.
• Test scores: You have taken the GRE General Test, with Verbal plus Quantitative of at least 290 and Analytical Writing of at least 3.0.
• Family income: Your family income is between 16,000 and 35,000 EUR, shown by the Italian ISEE indicator or an equivalent foreign proof.
• Age: You are under 30.
• No prior Unibo enrolment: You have not studied at the University of Bologna after the 2023-24 year and have never held a Unibo Action 2 grant.

How to apply

You apply online through Studenti Online by 30 May 2025 at 12:00 CEST, and submit your financial documents through the ER.GO portal by the same deadline. There is no interview. Applicants are ranked by their scores, and results are published in July 2025.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is cut narrowly: you need a foreign qualification, a valid GRE score above the minimums, an income in a set band and an age under 30. That keeps the applicant pool small. With 30 grants on offer, someone who clearly meets every requirement and scores well on the GRE has solid prospects. Apply well before the deadline to avoid last-minute problems with the financial documents.
