About this scholarship

ESU Padova scholarship for music, language and design students

You will receive an annual grant of about 426 to 7,171 EUR, paid by the ESU di Padova, the regional authority for student financial support in the Veneto region of Italy. The amount depends on your family’s income and the distance between your home and your university. If you move out of your family home to live near your university, you will receive the highest amount, up to around 7,171 EUR per year. Commuters receive a medium amount, and students who live at home receive the lowest amount. If your family’s income is very low, an additional 15% is added, and if you are enrolled on two degree programmes at the same time, an additional 20% is added. If you use an ESU room or an ESU canteen, these costs will be deducted from your grant. You will also be reimbursed the regional tuition fee of 192 EUR. The grant is valid for up to 54 months.

Who can apply

  • Where you study: You are enrolled at one of the music conservatoires in Adria, Castelfranco Veneto, Padua, Rovigo or Vicenza, or wish to enrol there; or you are enrolled at, or wish to enrol at, a language school (SSML) in Vicenza, Belluno, Padua or Milan (CIELS); or you are enrolled at, or wish to enrol at, the Scuola Italiana di Design in Padua.
  • Level: You are a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD student.
  • Nationality: Applicants of any nationality are welcome to apply. If your family’s income is earned abroad, please submit your application together with an ‘ISEE Parificato’, which is the Italian income assessment adjusted for this situation.
  • Family income: Your household’s ISEE (an Italian standard measure used to determine family income and assets) is no more than 26,306.25 EUR, and your ISPE (the asset component) is no more than 43,125.94 EUR.
  • Study progress: First-year students need only meet the income thresholds; however, they must have earned at least 20 credits (CFU) by August 2027, otherwise they will have to repay the scholarship. In subsequent years of study, you must have already earned a certain number of credits, for example 25 by the second year of a Bachelor’s degree.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the ESU student portal (Sportello Studente). Italian students should log in using SPID or CIE. International students should register using a valid passport. The deadline for the scholarship application is 20 October; the separate application for accommodation closes on 5 September. There is no interview. A ranking list is automatically generated based on your income and academic progress data.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is aimed at a narrowly defined group: only students from these specific conservatoires, as well as language and design schools in the Veneto region, are eligible, and you must meet the income thresholds. If you meet these criteria, your chances are good, as places are not awarded by a panel but are allocated according to a fixed ranking list. Make sure you apply in good time, as places in halls of residence in particular are limited.
