About this scholarship

Benefit

You will receive 6,000 EUR per year for two years, as well as a free evening meal (known as ‘Commons’) at Trinity College Dublin and a laptop. The 6,000 euros already cover all the fees you are required to pay. The scholarship is awarded by Trinity College Dublin and funded from the estate of Richard Touhill Reid. Up to 5 scholarships are awarded each year. If you achieve good academic results in your second year but do not receive a Foundation scholarship, your scholarship may be extended for a further two years.

Eligibility

  • Where you study: You have accepted a place on the first year of a Bachelor’s degree programme at Trinity College Dublin. The subject does not matter.
  • Where you are from: You are from County Kerry. If there are not enough applicants from Kerry, consideration may also be given to people who have moved there and attended primary or secondary school there.
  • Family income: Your gross family income is no more than 74,760 euros, or 82,147.50 euros if your family has 4 or more dependent children.
  • No earlier degree: You have not yet obtained a degree from another higher education institution.
  • Age: You had not turned 19 before 1 May of the year you apply.
  • Grades: Your results in the public exam will decide who wins.

How to apply

Complete the official Reid application form on the Trinity College website. Send it, together with proof of family income (e.g. a P60, a tax certificate or a SUSI income statement), by email or post to the Academic Registry. The deadline is 15 October of the year in which you wish to commence your studies. Applications will be assessed at the end of October.
