About this scholarship

Fondation Universite de Rennes welcome grant

You get a one-time grant of 3,600 EUR to help you settle in France when you start a research-oriented Master (M1 or M2) at the University of Rennes. On top of the money, the foundation reserves a room for you in a student residence through CROUS, the public body that runs student housing in France. The grant comes from the Fondation Universite de Rennes, which uses it to attract strong international students and prepare them for research careers or a PhD.

Who can apply

  • Coming from abroad: You are enrolled at a university outside France in 2025-2026 and want to move to Rennes.
  • Admission: You have pre-registered for a Master 1 or Master 2 at the University of Rennes.
  • Field of study: Any research-oriented Master at Rennes counts, across law and political science, economics and management, sciences, engineering and health.
  • Grades: You ranked among the top five in your year group over your last two years of study.
  • Age: You were born after 1 January 2000.
  • Research plan: You have a research-focused academic project and plan to continue into an M2 or a PhD at Rennes.
  • First-time applicant: You did not already hold this foundation's scholarship for 2026-2027. If you receive another university grant, you can still apply, as long as you list it in your budget plan.

How to apply

Send your full application as a single PDF by email to the foundation by 5 April 2026 (midnight), for the 2026-2027 academic year. The foundation's board reviews the applications and publishes the results on 15 June 2026.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is cut narrowly. You must be enrolled abroad, admitted to a specific university, born after 2000, and ranked in the top five of your year. That filters the field down to a small group of high achievers. So if you clearly meet every condition and can document your ranking, your prospects are good. Prepare your application early, since it needs recommendation letters and a budget plan.
