About this scholarship

What you get

You will receive a one-off payment of about 670 EUR (4,000 to 6,000 DKK), which will be paid out in early December. This is a one-off lump sum, not a monthly grant. The money is intended to help women achieve financial independence through their careers and is often used to fund study visits abroad. The Dansk Kvindesamfund (Danish Women’s Society) funds the award through two of its foundations. You apply to both at the same time using a single form.

Who can apply

  • Women only: Only women may apply.
  • What you study: You are undertaking academic, vocational or artistic training, or a craft apprenticeship. School-based courses (such as STX, HF, HHX, HTX) and training programmes lasting less than three years are not eligible, unless they constitute follow-up or supplementary training.
  • How far along you are: You have been studying for at least one year as part of your current course.
  • Field of study: All subjects qualify.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
  • Financial need: A tight financial situation or difficult personal circumstances will work in your favour. As will your commitment to your studies and your dedication to women’s issues.
  • Extra priority: Particular consideration will be given to women who are training to become teachers in the Slagelse police district, as well as women studying medicine at the University of Copenhagen.

How to apply

You must apply once a year using the official application form, which you can download or request by post. Two independent witnesses must confirm the details you have provided on the form in writing. These witnesses must not be family members, partners or flatmates. Without this confirmation, your form will not be considered. The deadline is 15 September. You will only receive a reply if your application has been successful.

How realistic are your chances?

Every year, the organisation awards between 25 and 35 of these awards.
