About this scholarship

Maria Bojesen Foundation grant

You will receive a one-off grant of up to about 10,000 EUR to help you in a financial emergency. The exact amount depends on your circumstances. The Maria Bojesen Foundation (Maria Bojesen Fonden) is a Danish charity named after Maria Bojesen (1807-1898), a pioneer in women’s education in Denmark. It provides support with financial or housing problems, as well as with the costs of retraining for a new career.

Who can apply

  • Who it's for: You are currently working, or have previously worked, as a teacher in Denmark. In exceptional cases, teacher training students may also receive support to enable them to complete their training.
  • Financial need: You are facing financial difficulties, for example following redundancy, due to illness or because of problems in your personal life.
  • What it funds: Support with financial difficulties, finding accommodation or the costs of retraining for a different profession.
  • Field of study: Open to all subjects.
  • Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
  • Who can apply: Individuals only, no organisations.

How to apply

Send a written application by post. Include a short letter explaining your situation and a copy of last year's Danish tax assessment (skatteopgorelse) as proof of your finances. The deadlines are 1 May and 1 November. Grants are usually paid in June and December. Check the current postal address before you send anything, as the foundation moved in 2024.
