Bourse Région Mobilité Internationale (Région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes)

Benefit

You get 95 EUR per full week abroad, for a study period or internship lasting 4 to 26 weeks per academic year. Over your whole studies you can be funded for up to 48 weeks in total. If you get a French state (CROUS) grant based on your family's income, you receive an extra one-off top-up of 80 to 530 EUR, depending on your grant level. Students with a recognised disability get a further one-off 530 EUR, which can be added on top of the income top-up. The money comes from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region to help you gain experience abroad during your studies.

Eligibility

• Where you study: You are enrolled at a higher-education institution in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes that awards state-recognised diplomas.
• Level: You are working towards a Licence, Master, engineering diploma or an equivalent state-recognised title. PhD and BTS students cannot apply (BTS students have a separate scheme).
• Where you go: Any country abroad, except French overseas territories, Monaco and Andorra. The stay must be part of your course, either an academic exchange or a company internship, and last at least 4 weeks.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply. If you are not French, you cannot use the grant to go to your home country.
• Other grants: You cannot combine this with a mobility grant from another French region. Combining it with Erasmus+ is generally fine.

How to apply

Contact your school or university first and put your application file together with them before you leave. Then submit it through the region's online portal before your stay abroad begins. There is no fixed yearly deadline. The only rule is that you apply before you travel. Your institution decides which applications it forwards, based on grades, attendance and its own criteria.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is limited to students at institutions in one French region, and each institution has only a fixed number of grants to hand out. So it is not automatic even if you qualify. If you clearly fit the requirements, have good grades and attendance, and get your file in well before you leave, your prospects are good. Because your own institution decides who is put forward, talk to its international office early.
