What you get

This aid pays part of your tuition fees at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). Depending on your score, you get 100%, 75% or 50% of the fee for the credits you enrolled in for the year. For master's students, the reduction is capped at 2,100 EUR. The support runs for one academic year. It is funded through an agreement between the Region of Madrid and UCM, and is meant for students in financial difficulty who missed out on the national grants from the Ministry of Education (MEFPD) and on UCM's own basic aid.

Who can apply

• University: You are enrolled in an official bachelor's or master's degree at UCM and have not dropped out.
• Financial need: Your family income stays below a set ceiling, set at 108% of the income limit for the national MEFPD grants. You either meet this from the start, or your situation worsened during the year and now threatens your studies.
• No other tuition aid: You get no other public or private aid for the same tuition fees, apart from UCM's own complementary aid. All help combined cannot exceed your enrolment cost.
• Nationality or residence: You are Spanish or from another EU country. Non-EU applicants need legal residence in Spain (a study or stay permit does not count), unless you are an asylum seeker in the transitional period.
• No equal or higher degree: You do not already hold, and cannot yet obtain, a degree at the same or a higher level than the one you are studying.
• No debts: You owe no outstanding debts to UCM.

How to apply

You apply through the online form at becas.ucm.es within the set window. For the 2025-26 year, applications run from 3 to 16 July 2026. Your request only counts once you receive the confirmation email. Applications are then scored on income (up to 80 points) and academic progress (up to 20 points). You need at least 50 points to be funded.

How realistic are your chances?

This aid targets a specific group: UCM students with genuine financial need who did not qualify for the main grants. That narrows the field, but the budget is limited (around 74,000 EUR in the last round), so it stays competitive. If your family income clearly falls below the ceiling and you can document it, and your grades meet the threshold, your prospects are solid, since scoring rests mostly on income.
