About this scholarship
What you get
You get 12,000 EUR to work on your own contemporary art project for one year. It is paid in 12 monthly instalments of 1,000 EUR, before the tax deductions required by law. You can work in any artistic field: visual arts, performing arts, music, literature, audiovisual work, or a mix of these. The grant comes from the Fundacion de Castilla y Leon, a public foundation linked to the regional parliament of Castilla y Leon in Spain. It awards nine grants per round, one for each province of the region.
Who can apply
- What you do: You are an artist working on your own contemporary art project in any discipline.
- Age: You are at least 18.
- Where you are from: You were born in Castilla y Leon, or you have lived there since before 1 January 2020.
- Where you live and work: You live in Castilla y Leon and carry out your project there for the whole funding year.
- First-time only: You have not received one of these grants from the foundation before.
- No overlap: You do not hold another public or private grant for the same project.
- Clean record: No criminal conviction bars you from public aid, and your taxes and social-security payments are up to date.
How to apply
You send the standard application form with a CV (max 2 pages), a project description (max 8 pages) and, if relevant, a digital portfolio. You can apply by email or by registered post. The deadline for the fourth round was 10 January 2021. A jury of one recognised figure per province judges each application on your track record, the originality and quality of the project, and its link to the region. The jury may invite you for an interview.
